LB908 Prevalence and mortality of cancer in patients with dermatomyositis and dermatopolymyositis compared to the general population

Dermatomyositis (DM) is a rare idiopathic inflammatory myopathy with complications that include cancer. Dermatopolymyositis (DPM) an ICD-10 code encompassing dermatomyositis and polymyositis. We investigated mortality in patients ICD-9/10 for malignancy DM/DPM compared this to cancers the general population. This retrospective analysis uses raw data from TriNetX database, national federated network of deidentified data. Patients were identified by entry DM or DPM ICD coding entered twice separated 6 months 3 years continuous follow up. Cancers secondary malignancies non-melanoma skin cancer excluded. Of (n=5,021), 17% had 11.6% those died within study window. Five associated most deaths population breast, lung, ovary, prostate, lymphoma respectively. (n=13,711), 18% 14% died. colon, prostate. less than age 50 who diagnosis cancer, frequent was breast at 38.5%, similarly died, 28.6%. USPSTF guidelines recommend screening 50. Our corroborates need individualized adjusted DM/DPM. found rate dying concomitant 0.4% (n=212,777,108).
